Pickleball Explained
Everything you need to know before you step on court
What Is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a fast growing sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis.
It’s played on a small court with lightweight paddles and a perforated plastic ball, making it easy to learn and enjoyable for all ages and abilities. The lower net, slower ball speed and simple rules mean beginners can rally quickly, while more experienced players enjoy strategy, quick reactions and competitive play. Whether social or competitive, pickleball offers a fun, accessible way to stay active and connect with others.
How to play pickleball
Pickleball is played on a small court with a net, using paddles and a perforated plastic ball. Players serve underhand into the opposite service box, and the ball must bounce once on each side before volleys are allowed. After this, players can hit the ball in the air or after a bounce, aiming to keep it in play and outmaneuver their opponent. Points are scored only by the serving side, and rallies continue until a fault occurs. The game is quick, tactical and easy for beginners to pick up while offering plenty of depth for experienced players.
